Ikebana
Ikebana is the Japanese art of floral arranging. It dates back to 6th century Japan, where these arrangements were placed as offerings at Buddhist temples. These sparse, deliberate arrangements stem from the Buddhist desire to preserve life. The art of Ikebana experiments with friction and the act of creating balance without symmetry. Emphasis is put on shape, line and form, focusing more on the stems and leaves of a flower rather than the bloom. This print collection takes the aesthetic values of Ikebana and translates them into an abstraction of florals using shape, line and form.
